My Blog!

Having done alot of blog reading and researching over the past few months I have to admit I am not very good at keeping this up to date and full of information, so I am going to make a huge effort starting today! So hear goes....
Firstly a bit of history about me...
I am now 26 and have been running Decor Chic since 2009 when the credit crunch hit me and I was made redundant from my tiring, boring and repetitive job with an NVQ training company. I felt like I needed a change of career and with the support of my husband and brilliant family and friends, Decor Chic was born! I was married in the summer of 2008 to the wonderful Ian and had the most fabulous time planning and creating bits with glue, ribbon and diamante's so I felt this the right path for me to take.
Decor Chic has grown tremendously over the last 2 years and my gosh have I learnt a lot, not only about myself but I'm a lot more business savvy now!
I feel we are a company with a personal touch, I don't want to be just a chair cover hire company who sends any Tom, Dick or Harry to dress 7 different weddings every Saturday, I personally like to style all my weddings (with the DC girlie's of course) and make sure we only ever give 100%. Therefore at the moment we are limiting ourselves to a certain amount of weddings per day as I can only be in so many places at one time!
We are currently in the process of having a studio built in our garden to store all our creative belongings. This will relieve me from sitting in an office with vases piled next to me and sashes round my neck and allow me to offer our brides the opportunity to come and visit us and get creative on our mock table. This has to be strictly by appointment only as I like to be prepared and organised for meetings. We did look at the option of having a unit/shop but this comes with big overheads and I want to keep my prices as competitive as possible. Plus I dont think Bella, my beautiful little Shih Tzu would be to happy about being on her own all day every day!
As I mentioned at the start, this blog is going to start developing into a creative page full of idea's, colour schemes, mood boards and DC's real life weddings so watch this space....
